MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE
MIDWIFERY AND MATERNITY SERVICES
The total number of births notified as occurring in the
Borough was 1,146. This does not include births which occurred
elsew here but which were subsequently transferred to Twickenham.
Of the births occurring in the Borough, 749 were attended
by Midwives in their capacity as Midwives, and 397 by Doctors.
Municipal Midwives attended 380-279 in their capacity as Midwives
and 101 as maternity nurses with doctors in charge.

Hampton Wick Clinic.
A new Welfare Centre was opened during the year at 20,
Seymour Road, Hampton Wick. The Infant Welfare Centre had been
held for some years in the Baptist Hall, Upper Teddington Road and
subsequently at St, Mark's First Aid Post. When the First Aid Post
was closed at the cessation of hostilities, accommodation was found
at the above address. An ante-natal consultation clinic and a school
medical clinic, have been started in addition to the Infant Welfare
consultation clinics, and it is hoped to commence a dental clinic there
shortly.

The total number of Midwives employed is NINE.

The number of sessions devoted to this work was:-
York House Centre One weekly session, plus additional session
on second and fourth week of each month.
Whitton Centre Two weekly sessions.
Teddington Centre Two weekly sessions.
Hampton Centre One session first, third and fourth week
of each month.
