INSPECTION AND SUPERVISION OF FOOD
Milk Supply.
During the year, 158 visits were made by the Sanitary
Inspectors to dairies, cowsheds and milkshops within the
Borough.
Milk (Special Designations) Orders, 1936 & 1938.
The following applications for sale of designated milk
were granted during the year:-
"Tuberculin tested" milk 20
Accredited 1
"Pasteurised" milk. 33
Meat and other Foods.
The Livestock (Restriction on Slaughtering), Order 1940
came into operation on the 15th January 1940. Generally the
Order provided that except under the terms and conditions of
a licence granted by or under the authority of the Minister of
Food., no person should slaughter or cause to be slaughtered
for human consumption any livestocks All general slaughtering
forthwith ceased in the Borough.
