Other Infectious Diseases.
One case of paratyphoid and one case of typhoid fever were notified during September.
In neither case was the infection contracted in Twickenham. One case proved fatal.
One case of polio-encephalitis was notified in February, the patient being a woman 33
years of age, and a notification was received in reference to a case of encephalitis lethargica,
in a female patient aged 37 years.
The incidence of measles was slight and it was not found necessary to remove patients
suffering from either measles or whooping cough to the Infectious Diseases Hospital for treatment.
Two notifications of dysentery were received during November, the disease apparently
being of bacillary type. No definite source of infection could be traced.
Another case of this disease had been admitted to the West Middlesex Hospital from
the Borough for treatment a short time previously. All three patients resided in the Whitton
area, and on enquiry it was found that mild cases had occurred, but had not been of a sufficiently
severe character to require medical attention, and, in consequence, had not been notified.
Tuberculosis.

Following is a table of the notifications of new cases of tuberculosis received during the year, with the ages at the time of notification and a table of the deaths which occurred as the result of tuberculosis, with the ages at which death occurred.

Visitors of the Corporation.
