Compared with the preceding year there was a marked decline in deaths from Influenza
Tuberculosis of the respiratory system and Bronchitis, while there was an increase in the number
of deaths from Measles, Cancer and Diarrhoea in young children. The deaths from violence
excluding suticide, numbered 2S, an increase of 8 over that for the year 1933 and an increase of 18
over the figure for the year 1932.
Of the total deaths of Twickenham residents, 136 occurred in the Middlesex Count}
Council Institutions principally at West Middlesex Hospital, 75 in hospitals in Twickenham
Richmond, London and elsewhere and 3 in Sanatoria. It appears, therefore, that more than
43 per cent. of the deaths of Twickenham residents occurred in hospitals, excluding menta.
hospitals. The number of deaths occurring in Nursing Homes cannot be given accurately and
is excluded from this figure.
