Use has also been made of Fumite canisters. These generators, by the
application of heat, dispel the D.D.T. powder in very fine particles over the
room. This form of fumigation has been found to be very effective.
The work has been carried out by the staff of the Public Health
Department.
Owing to the cost of the materials, the Council agreed to make a charge
for treatment based on a charge per room.

The sanitary condition of the schools in the locality still proved to be

War Damage—Drainage.
The Department continued to carry out the work of repairing and
reconstructing war damaged drains. This duty entailed much work, both
inside and outside of the office. In regard to the latter many contractors
had to be interviewed and accounts checked before payment could be made.
An indication of the amount of work involved is shown under Section D.—
drainage inspections and tests, although it must be realised that not all were
attributed to war damage.
Essex County Council Act, 1933.
Upon intimation from the County Council, inspections were made at
Massage and Special Treatment establishments in connection with the
renewal of licences and new applications.
Twelve visits were made to such establishments and all were found to
be Maintained in a good hygienic condition.
