ANNUAL REPORT

MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH
for the Year Ending 31st December, 1943
In the year under review the public health of the district remained
satisfactory and except for the prevalence of Scarlet Fever of a mild type,
the incidence of infectious disease approximated to that of pre-war years
The estimate of resident population for 1943 as given by the Registrar
General shows a slight increase. The birth rate has increased from 16.1 in
1942 to 17.1, and the death rate from 11.2 in 1942 to 11.38 per thousand.
