Rats and Mice (Destruction) Act, 1919.—Four hundred and twenty-six
visits were paid to premises by Sanitary Inspectors in connection with complaints
received. The bulk of these visits formed preparatory work in
connection with Infestation Order, 1943, and pre-baiting and baiting with
both Zinc Phosphide and Barium Carbonate was set in motion in December
throughout the more heavily-infested areas in the Borough, including
relevant sewer lengths.
The initial survey revealed only one "Major Infestation" and this was
the subject of special attention. A Rat-catcher was appointed in October
and made 176 visits to the end of the year.
Petroleum (Regulation) Acts, 1928 and 1936.—A total of forty-eight
