4. Schools - One Public School, one Secondary School and eight
Elementary Schools are situated in the district. In addition, one

periodically.
Considerable building extensions were carried out at one
elementary school, whilst extensions and repairs to sanitary
arran gements were also carried out at three other schools, including
one private school.
5. Legislation - The Food and Drugs Act, 1938, came intc operation
on the 1st October, 1939, with the exception of Section 14, relating

public analysts and the Borough Council's Sanitary Inspectors were
duly appointed "Sampling Officers" for the purposes of the Act.
The Rent and Mortgage (Interest Restrictions) Act, 1939
came into force on the 2nd September, 1939.
