Legal proceedings were also taken against 2 slaughterman
under The Slaughterhouse (Hygiene) Regulations, 1960, one for not
wearing head covering and the other for smoking. They were each
fined £2 with costs of 1 gn.
584 animals were slaughtered during the year and all
were inspected for fitness for human consumption. These animals
were completely free from tuberculosis which is a fine testimonial
to the work of the Officers of the Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food. A careful search was made for Cysticercus
Bovis in the cattle but none was found. The meat was all of high
quality and the total condemnation consisted of 13 diseased organs,
all of which were found in the 342 "cattle excluding cows", as
designated below. The percentage of the number of this class of
cattle, which were inspected and found to be affected with disease
other than tuberculosis, is thus 3.8%.
