The samples were submitted for chemical analyses (fat
content) as required by the Ministry of Food. In each case
the fat content exceeded the 2½% minimum and the average
was 9.8%.
Dealers were informed of results and if the Ice Cream
was manufactured outside the distrct, information was sent
to the Public Health Department concerned.
Samples were obtained from factories, shops, mobile
vans, tricycles and stalls.
All samples were delivered to the laboratory in London
within 3 hours of the samples being taken.
