The samples were classified under the Ministry of
Health's provisional grading scheme as follows:—
Grade I Grade II Grade III Grade IV

The samples were also submitted for chemical analyses
(fat content) as requested by the Ministry of Food. In every
case the fat content exceeded the 2½% minimum requirement.
In all cases dealers were informed of the results of the
analyses and when samples were manufactured outside the
district relevant information was sent to the Public Health
Department concerned.
Inspections were also carried out on Sundays, and
samples obtained from mobile vans, tricycles and stalls.
In all cases, including Sundays, the samples were delivered
to the laboratory within three hours of being obtained
from the vendors.
