(c) Factories.
284 inspections have been made.
Considerable improvement has been noted concerning
the nuisance from cellulose paint spraying. The plant concerned
is visited regularly, and the management have shown
their willingness to co-operate in this matter.
We have, however, been receiving numerous complaints
owing to the nuisance from stove enamel paint spraying. A
double-booth water wash plant has been installed and the
improvement noted. An order has been placed for a further
triple booth water wash plant and it is hoped that it will be
installed in the near future.
Inspections have been carried out of factory premises in
connection with means of escape in case of fire. We have
been assisted by Officers of the Essex County Fire Brigade
(Fire Prevention Branch), and a technical representative from
the Engineer and Surveyor's Department of this Authority.
I wish to record my thanks for their assistance and cooperation
during these important inspections.
Eleven certificates have been issued by this Authority
certifying that in each case the means of escape in case of
fire have been adequate.
