IN THE DISTRICT.
(a) Laboratory Service. The facilities at the E.M.S.

to provide a much improved service for the district.
(b) Ambulance Service. Continued use was made of Civil
Defence vehicles and the Volunteer Car Pool to
supplement the Council's ambulance. The Volunteer

(c) Nursing in the Home. The influenza epidemic at the
end of the year placed a great strain on doctors and
district nurses and to alleviate this to some extent
arrangements were made for nursing auxiliaries from
the First Aid Posts to do home nursing when requested
to do so by a doctor or district nurse. This arrangement
proved helpful especially at Buckhurst Hill.
