Diphtheria Immunisation.
Particulars of the number of children immunised are given in the
following table. Monthly immunisation clinics were held at the five
Child Welfare Centres and no difficulty is now being experienced in
getting practically all children attending the centres immunised at
about the age of 12 months. This statement may seem at variance
with the fact that only 62% of the children under 5 were estimated to
have been immunised by the end of the year, but the remaining 38%
comprise those still under 1 year of age, together with those not
attending one of the welfare centres.
Of the 5 notified cases of diphtheria, 4 were in children under
school age and none of these had been immunised.
