During Rat Week posters were exhibited in prominent places
throughout the district calling the attention of everyone to the importance
of destroying rats and intimating that help and advice can be obtained
on application to the Public Health Department. The usual slide was
also shown at the Loughton Cinema.
Several visits have been made to the Council's sewage works
and a few rats have been killed. Where evidence of the presence of
rats is noticed immediate steps are taken to ''gas" the ''workings."
The sewers are kept under observation and special bait for use in sewers
has been obtained. The baits are watched and renewed where necessary.
Rat bait is still supplied free on application.
Number of visits—319.
(iv) Smoke Abatement—No action taken.
4. Schools—
The sanitary conditions and water supply is satisfactory.
In one school the flush to the boys' urinal has been renewed.
