Verminous Houses.—
Twelve houses were found to be verminous during the year.
Council Houses 3
Other Houses 9
Two of the Council Houses were first treated with "Cimex"
by the Council's workmen under the supervision of the Sanitary
Inspector but this was not satisfactory, probably because not enough
units were used and also that the houses are constructed of hollow
blocks. They were then treated with "Vermicine" by two applications,
an interval of a fortnight between each. The work was done by
contractors. No trace of vermin has been seen since.
" Cimex " was used for the other Council house and for the nine
other houses. In every case a satisfactory result was obtained. The
work in the Council house was done by the Local Authority and in the
other houses by contractors or the occupiers.
Number of inspections and visits—48.
