Premature Infants
Sixty premature infants were born during the year; 49 were born in hospital and of
these, 41 were surviving at the end of one month; 8 were born at home and all of these were
surviving at the end of one month. There were three premature still births, all occurring
in hospital.
The classification of a premature infant is given to a child born prematurely, or which
weighs less than 5½ lbs. at birth.
Maternal Morbidity
Three cases of puerperal pyrexia were notified during the year. There were no maternal
deaths, and no deaths associated with abortion.
