Diphtheria.
Eighty-six cases of diphtheria were admitted to the hospital. The
clinical types were as follows:-
Faucial 55
Nasal 11
Laryngeal 3
Faucial & nasal 7
Faucial & laryngeal 1
Faucial, nasal & laryngeal 1
Bacteriological 8
One of these cases required tracheotomy.
The following table, No. 40, shows the incidence of the disease in age
groups:—

The relatively high proportion between ages 5-15 is due to the outbreak
of the disease which occurred at North Road school in the early autumn.
On the whole the type of the disease was fairly mild.
