(c) An allowance of £18 per annum be paid for uniform of an approved pattern, and
laundry.
(d) Drugs and equipment be supplied by the Borough Council on indent.
4. That the following scale of leave be granted to midwives, subject always to the
exigencies of the work :—
(a) One day in each week.
(b) One week-end (i.e. from mid-day on Saturday until 9 a.m. on Monday) each
four weeks.
(c) Four weeks annual leave.
5. That midwives appointed by the Borough Council be allowed to practise from their
homes if, in the opinion of the Borough Council, they are suitable for the purpose, and, if not,
that the midwife be required to remove into premises approved by the Borough Council.
6. That a fee of £3 3s. 0d. be charged for the services of a municipal midwife either as
a midwife or as a maternity nurse, and that in necessitous cases reductions be made from such
fee in accordance with the following scale:—
Note.—Assessment is to be made at the time when the midwife is booked.
"Family " means the parents, dependent children not working or not earning more than
10s. 0d. per week, and any resident relative or other person looking after the home and not
otherwise working.
1. The weekly income to be ascertained as follows:—
Weekly wages or salary and/or other income of husband £
Weekly wages or salary and/or other income of wife £

2. To ascertain the net weekly income per head:—

(a)Deduct. Weekly Expenses, viz.,
(i)Rent or mortgage repayment£
(ii)Rates and taxes£
(iii)State Insurance£
(iv)Other Insurance£
(v)Fares (if any)£
(vi)Hire purchase payments not exceeding 5% of gross income££
Where a doctor is booked and undertakes to attend the confinement and puerperium, deduct10s. 6d.
