Ante-Natal Clinics.
It is with pleasure one is able to regard the intimate working between our own Ante-Natal
Clinic and the County Council's M. & C.W. Department.
Everything has worked as smoothly as possible and there has been no difficulty as far as
the patients are concerned in being transferred from one authority to the other. The West
Middlesex Hospital has at all times been helpful to a degree.
Under these arrangements no less than 344 West Middlesex Hospital patients who reside
in the Borough have received their routine ante-natal supervision at the Corporation's Ante-Natal
Clinic.
Mr. Bowes' report follows :—
ANTE-NATAL SERVICES, 1937.
In previous years it has been customary in the Report on the Ante-Natal services to summarise
briefly the work done. During the last year there has been a large increase in the number
of patients as many are now referred fom the West Middlesex Hospital for the greater part of
their ante-natal time. In view of the increase of work done it has been thought that a short
statistical analysis might be of interest.
It will be noted that besides a larger number of patients there has also been a greater
tendency for the Clinic to be used as a reference centre for gynaecological and post-natal conditions,
and it looks as if this will be of greater importance in the future.
The ante-natal work has continued on the usual lines, St. Thomas's, the West Middlesex,
and the Grosvenor Hospitals have all given valuable help in dealing with abnormalities which
have arisen.
