TUBERCULOSIS, 1937.
At long last one's hopes with regard to the open air school are materializing. The plans
are through and the building is in process of erection, and there will be in existence the open
air school which I hope will cope with the problems which arise in the district.
Pulmonary Tuberculosis.—The number of new cases notified including transfers from
other districts during the year was 88, of the new cases, 46 were receiving institutional treatment
at the time of notification, and 15 died. There were 46 deaths from Tuberculosis of the Respiratory
System as against 49 last year. Nine cases were transferred into the area, after notification
in other districts.
Other Forms of Tuberculosis.—The number of new cases notified during the year
including transfers was 14. Of the new cases, 9 were notified as receiving institutional treatment,
and two died. The total deaths were 7, being 5 less than in 1936.
Deaths from Tuberculosis of non-notified Cases.—Fifteen deaths occurred in nonnotified
cases. Five deaths occurred elsewhere, and were transferred to this district.

The following Table gives further particulars of new cases notified and deaths in 1937.
