Gentlemen,
The Annual Report this year is one designated by the Ministry as an Ordinary
Report in contradistinction to the periodical Survey Report.
In view of the fire at Clipstone House some matters will unavoidably be omitted, as
the first draft of the report and some of the records which had been carefully kept, were badly
damaged or destroyed.
The delay in getting such Report as I am able to make before the Committee, is due
entirely to the difficulty in getting together the information from the wreckage that remained. No
one who has not experienced a fire in their offices can appreciate in the slightest degree the
devastating effect which it has on one's routine and records.
I cannot speak too highly of the way the staff rose to the occasion as we were able
to carry out a complete service within four days of the fire.
I wish to express my appreciation to the Council for the consideration shown to me
by all members during the past year.
