Influenza.
There were 18 deaths from Influenza during the year, the
mortality being 0.24 per 1,000 of the population.
Cleansing of Verminous Persons.
Particulars are asked for as to the facilities available in the
district for the cleansing and disinfection of verminous persons and
their belongings.
Neither the Education Authority nor the Sanitary Authority
possesses a Cleansing Station. Where application is made, the
Health Department undertakes the spraying of rooms for the removal
of bed bugs. Bedding and clothing generally can be disinfected
by steam at Mogden Isolation Hospital.
TUBERCULOSIS.
I still feel very strongly that an open-air recovery school is a
real need in the district.
One has to realise how important it is in the case of those
people who, in crowded houses, are in very intimate contact indeed
with cases of open tuberculosis, to ensure that everything is done
to prevent the disease becoming manifest.
