(a). Including all deaths registered in district19.8
(b). Deaths of residents only registered13.0
(c). Deaths of residents registered in district plus deaths of residents registered outside13.8

In all probability the last figure in the above six is the real
death-rate for the district (13.8 per 1000). Anyway it is certainly
more nearly correct than either of the two immediately before it,
and is more likely to be accurate than the official one of 15 9.
But the facts being stated, anyone can of course form another
opinion.

It is calculated in the same manner as that adopted for the quarterly birth-rates, i.e.,each one is made to equal an annual death-rate so that it can be compared with the death-rate for the whole year:—

1st quarter18.1per 1000
2nd ,,14.4,,
3rd ,,13.1,,
4th ,,13.9,,

The calculations are made on the official estimate of the
population.
