SAUSAGE ROLL
A sausage roll which was the subject of a complaint was found to
contain mould growth. Steps were taken to prevent a recurrence.
WHOLEMEAL LOAF
A fruit wholemeal loaf which was the subject of a complaint was found
to contain foreign matter consisting of sandy siliceous matter. Steps
were taken to prevent a recurrence.
OTHER LEGAL PROCEEDINGS
(1) A number of unlabelled tins of food offered for sale in a supermarket
were the subject of legal proceedings. The defendants, who pleaded guilty,
were fined a total of £30 with £6. 6. 0. costs.
(2) Proceedings were instituted against a butchery firm for selling pieces
of meat containing a cigarette end. The meat was, in fact, delivered by a
firm outside Wimbledon to a school kitchen within the Borough. The
defendants, who pleaded guilty, were fined £5 with £6. 6. 0. costs.
