Health Visitors
Health Visitors work in the Clinics and also do home visiting. They
are primarily employed as "Health Educators", to advise on the care of
young children, persons suffering from illness, expectant and nursing
mothers, and the measures necessary to prevent the spread of infection.
They are based, according to the area they serve, either at Amity Grove
Clinic, Raynes Park, the Health Centre, Pelham Road, or the Town Hall,
Wimbledon.
Ambulances
The Ambulance Service is provided from the Station in Nursery Road,
Wimbledon, and operates under the Control Station at New Maiden.
School Health Service
The basis of this Service is the periodical medical and dental inspection
of all children in attendance at the local schools. Special attention is
given to handicapped children, some of whom require to be admitted to special
schools, e.g. those for the deaf, mentally or physically subnormal. The
administrative work of this Service is conducted from the Health Centre,
Pelham Road, Wimbledon.
Day Nursery
A Day Nursery located at All Saints' Road, Wimbledon, is provided for
the care of children up to 5 years of age, who are admitted for health or
social reasons.
