MEAT AND OTHER POODS.
There are no slaughterhouses within the Borough, and no slaughtermen's
licences were issued under the provisions of the Slaughter of Animals Act
1958, during the year 1962.
FOOD AND DRUGS ACT 1955.
The inspection of food premises has formed an important part of the work
of the Public Health Inspectors during the past year. 1,785 visits were made
to premises in which foodstuffs, intended for human consumption, were
prepared, stored or sold. All food premises must comply with the Food
Hygiene (General) Regulations 1960, and a considerable amount of work
has been done under the Regulations during the year. In general, it has been
found that food traders within the Borough are co-operative and I have reason
to believe that the assistance and advice given by the Department is appreciated.
