Grade 1 and 2 samples can be considered satisfactory; only 20% of the

MEAT AND OTHER FOODS.
There are no slaughterhouses within the Borough, and no slaughtermen'8
licences were issued under the provisions of the Slaughter of Animals Act 1958,
during the year 1961.
The Report upon the review of slaughterhouse facilities, which was
referred to in the Annual Report 1960, was accepted by the Minister of
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and notice of this acceptance was published
in the Wimbledon Boro' News on the 10th March, 1961.
FOOD AND DRUGS ACT 1955.
The inspection of food premises has formed an important part of the work
of the Public Health Inspectors during the past year. 2,018 visits were made
to premises in which foodstuffs, intended for human consumption, were prepared,
stored or sold. All food premises must comply with the Food Hygiene (General)
Regulations 1960, and a considerable amount of work has been done under the
Regulations during the year. In general, it has been found that food traders
within the Borough are co-operative and I have reason to believe that the
assistance and advice given by the Department is appreciated.
The register of food premises includes the followings-
Greengrocers 68
Confectioners 139
Ice-cream premises 209
Bakers 35
Grocers 124
Provision dealers 89
Butchers 45
Fishmongers 21
