Cerebro-Spinal Fever.
A boy aged six years was admitted to hospital with this disease
during 1953. This was a meningococcal infection from which the
patient recovered.
Diphtheria.
It is gratifying to report that in 1953 no case of diphtheria occurred
in the Borough. Two patients suspected to be suffering from diphtheria
were admitted to hospital. On investigation both were found
to be suffering from tonsillitis.
Immunisation against Diphtheria.
The authority responsible for immunisation in this area is the
Surrey County Council.
The following table shows the number of children in Wimbledon under the age of 15 years who have been immunised against diphtheria.
