There was one death from this disease, in a patient who came
to Wimbledon from an area of Lincolnshire where a number of
cases were known to have been occurring. This patient was unwell
when he arrived in Wimbledon and was admitted to hospital two
days later.
Meningococcal Infection — 3 cases.
Three patients were removed to hospital with meningococcal
infections, and two of these — a girl aged four years and a baby
aged eight months — died shortly after admission.
Acute Encephalitis — no cases.
