SECTION B. - GENERAL PROVISION OF
HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE AREA.
PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936, PART VI. — NURSING HOMES.
The Wimbledon Borough Council is responsible for the supervision
of nursing homes in the Borough. Sixteen visits of inspection
were made during 1950.
Two nursing homes closed during the year and one new home
was registered for the reception of medical and chronic cases.
Application for re-registration was made in respect of one
nursing home which was taken over by a new proprietor. At the
end of the year re-registration had not been granted pending
compliance with precautions against fire.
In the case of one establishment which had been exempted on
an annual basis from registration under the Public Health Act, 1936,
renewal of this exemption was deferred pending compliance with
certain requirements in connection with precautions against fire.
These requirements had been previously communicated to the proprietors
but had not been put in hand pending extensive alterations
and additions to the premises.
The position at the end of 1950 was as follows :—
