AMBULANCE SERVICES.
(a) For Infectious Diseases.
Two motor ambulances are maintained by the Wimbledon Borough
Council at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Gap Road — one
for the removal of infectious cases and one for disinfection purposes.
(b) For Non-Infectious Cases and Accidents.
Two motor ambulances are maintained by the Wimbledon Borough
Council at the Fire Station in Queens Road for the removal of
non-infectious patients and accident cases.
The following table shows the continued increase in the annual number of requests for these ambulances during the last five years:—

At the end of 1945 the Borough Council approved a recommendation
of the Public Health Committee that maternity patients should
be conveyed free to hospitals and institutions. During 1946 the
Civil Ambulance Service conveyed 231 such patients.
