BIRTHS.
The statistics supplied by the Registrar-General show that
during 1946 the total number of registered live births belonging
to Wimbledon amounted to one thousand and thirty eight. (Five
hundred and forty one males and four hundred and ninety seven
females). This gives a birth rate equal to 18.90 per thousand of the
population, compared with 17.01 per thousand for the previous year.
Fifty eight of the births were illegitimate. In addition thirty five
slill-births (fifteen females and twenty males, one of which was
illegitimate) were registered.
Public Health Act, 1936.—Notification of Births.
During 1946, one thousand, two hundred and seventy nine live
births and twenty seven still-births were notified. Of these, two hundred
and forty six live births and three still-births were in respect of
births occurring in Wimbledon to mothers normally resident outside
the district.

notified births belonging to Wimbledon (i.e. as adjusted by inward and
outward transfers): —
