The number of houses destroyed during the war as a result of
enemy action was five hundred and eighty two. A further thirteen
thousand, five hundred and nine were damaged.
The number of families re-housed in requisitioned property during
1945 was three hundred and seventy nine.
WATER SUPPLY.
The Metropolitan Water Board is responsible for the water supply
of the Borough, and periodical examinations are made by them.
The supply in 1945 was satisfactory, both in quality and quantity.
All the dwelling houses of Wimbledon are supplied from public
water mains direct to the houses.
