In a further case, a complaint was received as to the condition
of preserved ginger sold and being offered for sale. The
complaint referred mainly to a shop in a neighbouring district,
and a communication was sent to the Public Health Department
concerned. Exhaustive enquiries were made, and as the
result of the action taken, and the co-operation of the traders
concerned, no further complaint was received.
Legal proceedings were instituted against one firm for
selling cooked meat which was unfit for human consumption.
The Magistrates inflicted a fine of £2 2s. 0d., with £2 2s. 0d.
costs.
