Diseases of Animals Acts.—No case of notifiable disease,
within the meaning of these Acts, was reported to the Authority
during the year. There were, however, a number of
Orders made by the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly with
regard to outbreaks of foot and mouth disease. A number of
enquiries were dealt with by the Department. In a few instances
licences for the movement of animals were issued.
Foot and Mouth Disease (Packing Materials) Amendment
Order, 1926.—Paragraph 1 of this Order states that no hay or
straw from any source, which has been used for packing purposes,
shall be brought into contact with any animal in Great
Britain, or be removed from any premises, except as packing
or for the purpose of destruction, or of being returned in a
crate or box to the sender thereof for further use as packing.
A local firm was found to be contravening this Order by
selling and offering for sale packing cases containing packing
material. The provisions of the order were explained to the
proprietors of the business premises. The facts were subsequently
reported to the Local Authority who instructed that a
written warning be issued.

and for the investigation of complaints. In five cases legal
proceedings were instituted, with the following results:—

(b) Failure to close shop on weekly half-holiday—Fined
