House Inspection.—As the result of inspections made on
complaint, or in consequence of the occurrence of infectious
disease, or for other reasons, two thousand four hundred and
forty-eight houses were visited. This figure shows an increase
of six hundred and thirty-two as compared with 1936.
At thirty-one houses, from which cases of notifiable
infectious disease had been reported, defective drains or
other insanitary conditions were found to exist. All these
were subsequently remedied under the supervision of the
officers of the Department.
The following table gives a summary of the nuisances
abated and the sanitary improvements carried out, together
with the defects remedied, as the result of house-to-house
inspection under the supervision of the Sanitary Inspectors:-
