Of the forty children under one year who died, the cause
of death in fifteen cases was prematurity and debility. Four
died as the result of congenital defects. Three deaths were due
to whooping cough, one to pneumonia, and five to bronchopneumonia.
Infantile diarrhoea was responsible for three
deaths.
The Infantile Death Rate for illegitimate children in
Wimbledon was forty per thousand illegitimate live births.
