The deaths occurring within the district, of persons not belonging thereto were seventy-three, namely:—
Wimbledon Hospital | 29 |
Infectious Diseases Hospital | 2 |
Private Nursing Homes | 40 |
Others | 2 |
Total | 73 |
Taking these figures into consideration, the total number
of deaths properly belonging to Wimbledon is seven hundred
and fifty-four and the crude death rate 12.90 per thousand
of the population. The rate for England and Wales for the
same period was 12.4 per thousand.
The crude death rate again shows an increase on the figure
for the previous year and is slightly higher than that for
England and Wales.
The following table gives the crude death rate in Wimbledon for the past eleven years together with the figures for England and Wales:—
1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1931 | 1932 | 1933 | 1934 | 1935 | 1936 | 1937 | |

The crude death rate for Wimbledon is, strictly speaking,
not comparable with the figure for England and Wales.
In order to provide for this the Registrar-General has introduced
a comparability factor. This factor, for Wimbledon,
is 0.90. The adjusted death rate for Wimbledon for 1937 is
consequently 11.61 per thousand of the population as compared
with a figure of 12.4 per thousand for England and
Wales.
