ANNUAL REPORT
OF THE
SCHOOL MEDICAL OFFICER
FOR THE
Year ended 31st December, 1933
To the Chairman and Members of the
Education Committee.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I beg to submit my Annual Report for the year 1933 on the
work of the School Medical Department.
There are ten public elementary schools, with nineteen
departments under the control of the Local Education Authority.
These schools provide accommodation for 7,069 children, including
accommodation for fifty children at the Special School, Queen's
Road. The average number of children on the school registers
on March 31st, 1933, was 5,234, and the average number in
attendance 4,6'27, thus making an average attendance of 88.40
per cent.
1. STAFF.
Full particulars of the staff of the School Medical Service
are given at the commencement of this report.
Considerable changes have taken place in the personnel of
the staff of School Nurse-Health Visitors. Miss Giles relinquished
her duties on account of ill-health on 31st March, and
on 15th May, Miss Skelton left for the same reason. Miss
