The School Medical Service with its Ophthalmic and Dental
branches, and the Maternity and Child Welfare Department are
centralised in the Health Centre at Pelham Road. This promotes
a very complete co-ordination of the services.
(ft) No Nursery Schools have been established in Wimbledon.
(c) Children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years are
visited twice a year by the Health Visitors. Debilitated children
are visited more frequently. The Maternity and Child Welfare
Committee have made arrangements whereby debilitated children
requiring convalescent treatment can be sent to recognised
convalescent institutions.

3. SCHOOL HYGIENE.
The sanitary condition of the Public Elementary Schools in
Wimbledon continues to be satisfactory.
Seven new dual locker desks and fourteen chairs of a modern
type were provided during the year in order to complete the full
number at the Boys' Central School.
External painting was carried out at the Health Centre in
Pelham Road.
A considerable amount of internal decoration was also done.
The greater part of the interior of the Health Centre has now
been painted with washable paint.
The equipment for the Orthopædic Room was also completed
during the year. The wall bars were fixed, a suitable
mirror installed, and one large high plinth, three small plinths
and a strip of "Sorbo" rubber flooring provided.
Re-decoration was also carried out in the Caretaker's Rooms
on the first floor.
4. MEDICAL INSPECTION.
(a) The children medically examined were those in the three
groups required by the Code of the Board of Education. These
included:—
(i) Entrants: i.e., those children admitted to school for
the first time since the last routine medical inspection.
(ii) Intermediates: i.e., those children who have attained
their 8th birthday since the last routine medical
inspection, or who will be 9 years of age during the
