Although these figures vary, considerably from year to
year, there appears to be no direct evidence that cancer is
on the increase in Wimbledon.
Diseases of the Heart and Circulation.
One hundred and forty-eight deaths were due to heart
disease. In addition there were thirty-six deaths from cerebral
haemorrhage, one from aneurysm and thirty-four from
other circulatory diseases. Thus, two hundred and nineteen
deaths occurred from diseases of the heart and circulation.
This figure represents 30.71 per cent, of the total number
of deaths recorded.
Table: The following table, which gives the figures for the past ten years, seems to indicate that diseases of the heart and circulation are becoming increasingly important factors in the causation of death in Wimbledon, in spite of the fact that the figure is slightly less than that for the preceding year.
