PUBLIC SWIMMING BATHS:—
The following is the report on a sample of water taken for
bacteriological examination from the Corporation's Swimming
Baths:—
(1) Quantitative.
The average number of organisms producing
visible colonies on gelatine plates incubated
at 20 degrees C. for 3 days 39 per c.c.
Average number of organisms producing
visible colonies on agar plates incubated at
37.5 degrees C. for 2 days 8 per c.c.
(2) Qualitative.
B. Coli not found in 100 c.c.
Streptococci not found in 30 c.c.
B. Enteritidis Sporogenes not found in 100 c.c.
Organisms of an excremental type were not found and those
which developed were chiefly hardy Staphylococci with a few
water saprophytes and moulds. It was obvious from this report
that the filtration-chlorination plant was dealing with the water
efficiently.
SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA.
I submit herewith the report of Mr. Johnson, the Chief
Sanitary Inspector, on the sanitary circumstances of the area.
The report deals in detail with the work carried out during the
year.
I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my
appreciation of the efficient and conscientious manner in which
Mr. Johnson and the inspectorial staff have carried out their
duties.
