Births :—
The number of births registered in the district w as 637
(337 males and 300 females), a decrease of 34 against last
year, and equal to a birth-rate of 10.7 on a population of
59,070. The corrected birth-rate produced by transferable
births notified to us by the Registrar-General is 11.6. 39 (or
6.1 per cent.) of the births were illegitimate.
Notification of Births Acts, 1907 and 1915.
During the year, 615 births were notified by the following
persons:—Parents, 47; Midwives, 389; Doctors, 85; other
persons, 94. Nineteen notifications of still-births were
received.
Deaths :—
The total number of deaths registered in the district was
476 (226 males, 250 females), equal to a death-rate of 8.05 per
thousand of the population (R.G.) per annum.
The deaths occurring outside the district, of persons
belonging to this Borough, were 240, viz.:—
Kingston and District General Hospital 105
Brook wood Asylum, Woking 13
Nelson Hospital, Merton 25
Others 97
Total 240
The deaths occurring within the district, of persons not
belonging thereto, were 84, viz.:—
Atkinson Morley Hospital 1
Isolation Hospital 9
North Wimbledon Hospital 15
Others 59
Total 84
Taking those into consideration, the total number of
deaths properly belonging to Wimbledon, is 632, and the
death-rate 10.7. The rate for England and Wales for the
same period was 11.7.
