Births :—
The number of births registered in the district was 712
(377 males and 335 females), a decrease of 51 against last year,
and equal to a birth-rate of 12.2 on a population of 58,170.
The corrected birth-rate produced by transferable births notified
to us by the Registrar-General, is 13.06. 42 (or 5.5 per cent.) of
the births were illegitimate.
Notification of Births Acts, 1907 and 1915.
During the year, 622 births were notified by the following
persons:—Parents, 76; Midwives, 465; Doctors, 72; other
persons, 9. Fourteen notifications of still-births were received.
Deaths:—
The total number of deaths registered in the district was
524 (227 males, 297 females) equal to a death rate of 9.0 per
thousand of the population (11.(1.) per annum.
The deaths occurring outside the district, of persons belonging
to this Borough, were 199, viz.:—
Kingston and District General Hospital 76
Brookwood Asylum, Woking 6
Nelson Hospital, Morton 21
Others 96
Total 199
The deaths occurring within the district, of persons not
belonging thereto, were 85, viz.:—
Atkinson Morley's Convalescent Hospital 1
North Wimbledon Hospital 20
Others 64
Total 85
Taking those into consideration, the total number of deaths
properly belonging to Wimbledon, is 638, and the death rate
10.9. The rate for England and Wales for the same period
was 12.2.
