304 cases were admitted to the Wimbledon Isolation
Hospital during 1925, making a total of 350 cases under treatment
during the year, 46 cases remaining under treatment from
1924. 171 cases were from Wimbledon, and 133 from Kingston.
Diphtheria :—44 cases were admitted as diphtheria. Of
these causes, 5 proved not to be diphtheria—4 being oases of
follicular tonsillitis, and 1 an abscess of the soft palate. 1 case
Was baeteriiologically positive without clinical signs. A
virulence test proved that the organism was a virulent, and the
patient was discharged. Of the 38 true cases, 22 were mild, 18
moderately severe, and 4 very severe—3, laryngeal. One ease
died on the 9th day after admission of heart failure, giving a
case rate of 2.6 per cent.
Complications:— 60 per cent. of the cases were uncomplicated.
6 oases showed signs of minor paralysis, and 4 had
albuminuria.
Scarlet Fever:252 cases were admitted on the diagnosis
of scarlet fever. 6 were not scarlet fever cases. 3 had also
diphtheria—clinically and bacteriologically. Of the true
