II. Unfit houses closed:-
(1) Under Sections 16(4), 17(1) and 35(1), Housing
Act, 1957 12
(2) Under Sections 17(3) and 26, Housing Act, 1957
(3) Parts of buildings closed under Section 18,
Housing Act, 1957
III. Unfit houses made fit and houses in which defects
were remedied:-
(1) After informal action by Local Authority 414*
(2) After I'ormal notice under (a) Public Health Acts 210*
(b) Sections 9 and 16,

Clearance Areas
One official representation was made in November in respect of
nine dwelling houses - this was confirmed by the Council and
forwarded to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government for
confirmation. This completes the five year programme 1955-60.
Inspections of dwelling houses were carried out in respect of
the first clearance area in the 1960/65 programme. This area will
be dealt with in 1961.
