18 NURSERY SCHOOL
Miss F.D. Harris, Headmistress, reports as follows: -
From the health point of view the past year has
been one of the worst I have known. A measles epidemic
from January until the end of March produced a total of
thirty four cases more than twice the number we had in
1957. Attendance improved during the summer, but there
were six cases of scarlet fever, and several children
were away with sore throats and colds.
The glorious summer was enjoyed by all of us, and
the children were out of doors most of the day. But it
was disappointing to return in September to three months
of low attendance, due to coughs, colds and "flu. We
did not have a full school until the beginning of
December.'
