RESEARCH
The Department co-operated in the Perinatal Mortality Survey
which was organised by the National Birthday Trust Fund in order
to try to elucidate the reasons for the failure to produce any
significant reduction in the incidence of still-birth and neonatal
death.
An explanatory letter was sent to all family doctors and all
domiciliary midwives. Maternity home and hospital staffs were
briefed in the type of information to be entered on the questionnaire.
