Grants totalling £18,925 have been approved by the Council.
The benefit of Improvement Grants appeals to owneroccupiers
who have every intention of remaining in their present
accommodation and also to estate companies with estates of artisan
class property, for example, Warner Estate Ltd., but it is disappointing
to note that few applications have been received from
other property owners.
The properties which have been completed show a marked
improvement both in amenity and compliance with the Council's
current bye-laws. Allied with the Council's new building and
redevelopment programme, the effort and expense may be regarded
as a worthwhile contribution to the general improvement of the
Borough's housing accommodation.
